River Region FCU OverviewRiver Region Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union domiciled in St. James Parish, yet small enough to provide personal , courteous, and professional service to our members. We have the experience necessary to take care of your financial needs. Our credit union has been in existence since 1960. we were first established as a credit union for Kaiser Aluminum, and were first named the Kaiser Gramercy Works Federal Credit Union. As time passed, the credit union opened our membership to other business establishments. With the addition of other business entities, the name of the credit union was changed to River Region Federal Credit Union to better reflect the new, more encompassing membership. Our credit union is governed by an elected volunteer Board of Directors consisting of seven members who meet each month. The election of our Board is conducted at an annual meeting of our membership held at the beginning of each new year. Once a business joins our credit union, representatives from that organization may be nominated for and elected to assume positions on our Board of Directors and/or Supervisory Committee. Our credit union is audited by a federal examiner of the National Credit Union Adminstration, (NCUA) and by an outside accounting/auditing firm. Our assets total over $26 million. Our capital position (over 19%) is among the strongest in the nation, our loans are sound, and all investments are federally insured. |
